The end of July was a whirlwind.  My parents left after staying with us for a fun week and we jumped straight into the largest gathering in Papua New Guinean history.  Our Sr. Pastor Bill Page has been the head of organizing the Joyce Meyer conference for PNG  and it was surreal to see hundreds of thousands gathered for the three day conference.   With estimated crowds of as many as 400,000 , Carina and I were privileged to witness this mighty move of God in our city.   Hillsong brought a team and of course worship was incredibly anointed and Joyce Meyer provided wonderful practical teaching.  Joyce Meyer/Hillsong also led 2 days of leadership training for pastors and leaders in PNG.  The conference was called “Festival of Life” and thousands of people began a new life in Jesus and our churches have been overflowing since the event.  The whole weekend of activities was amazing to watch as we saw God touch and transform so many lives of all ages.  And as we mentioned in our last newsletter Joyce Meyer also helped fund two clinic extensions, the drilling of water wells, and Foursquare village church buildings to be built.

The Bible College is back in swing after the mid year break and the students are doing really great.  Maybe I’m biased because I am the principal but I believe with all my heart God is going to be doing some great things through them.  He already is.  I recently reformatted the student ministry involvements and they went to minister in one of our churches clinics and 28 people got saved in the waiting room…. hallelujah.  The new formatting also includes helping clean the church property and grounds, ministering at the Faith Club/Nutrition program for settlement children (picture on left side) and Friday mornings the students go pray for people at Port Moresby general hospital.  We are also sending groups of Bible School students out to the villages for church planting. You can really see a big change in the students from when they started the year at Bible College to now.

Isaac and Paul on Graduation Day

Isaac and Paul on Graduation Day

This month one of our students (who started mid-year last year) graduated.  His name is Issac Pora and he chose to graduate early to go back to his village and help at the Foursquare church there.  He is from Daru which is a place only accessible by boat and plane because it is surrounded by swamps and one large river.  The Foursquare work there is very small  so please pray for the Isaac and the new church in this remote area.

Recently I been blessed to have the opportunity to go into the suburbs and settlements and preach in the different Foursquare churches around this large city.  It’s great to be able to encourage churches and Pastors and minister to so many different tongues and tribes that are in Port Moresby.

As we have mentioned Foursquare Missions Press (FMP) recently sent us a crate of evangelism tracks, children’s Sunday school activities, books and bibles.  This is Pastor Maria who pastors the widows and abandoned mothers at our church.  She is the leader for Faith Club feeding and nutrition program for the settlement children.  She calls her bible her “garden” where she dig’s and sows and the word of God it grows in her and bears fruit.  She began to cry when we showed her a large print NKJ Bible from FMP.  Ps Maria said that when she teaches the word her eyes hurt her and she gets a headache because the words are too small.  She had been asking God to heal her eyes so she could see the words, and now she can see perfectly in the giant print Bible.  Thank You Foursquare Missions Press for equipping the Foursquare Leaders in PNG.   The bible school student have also used the FMP tracks to minister in to the sick in the hospitals and our church’s medical clinics.  Its exciting to see the Word of God go out in Papua New Guinea.

At the beginning of the month I went to Goroka (city in the highlands) for the bi-annual Foursquare Youth Congress .  Over 15,000 youth from around the whole county of Papua New guinea gathered in an open field to worship God.  It was such a wonderful time of fellowship and renewal for all that came from the many different tribes and towns all over PNG.  I was excited to see as thousands were baptized in the Holy Spirit and many hundreds were saved.  Click above to watch video.

Training Foursquare Youth Pastors

I was also able to have some teaching times with over 700 youth leaders where we talked about the foundations of youth ministry and how to organize/calendarize youth events.  You see, most youth groups in PNG are simply a service that copies a Sunday morning of their church.  Training is needed on how to have a variety of services, activities, small groups, discussions, creative arts, outreaches, and service projects within the youth ministries.  I am so passionate about training youth pastors of this nation because I love seeing God give youth leaders fresh vision and inspiration for their youth ministries.  Youth pastors here have a deep passion to see their youth grow and serve the Lord in their nation.

Anniversary and Family Time

The very next week after the youth conference, Kapakamargi celebrated 25 years of LIFE Bible College in Eastern Highlands Province.  My parents, Frank and Kathy Greer, and my grandparents, Lloyd and Claire Post helped start this Bible College together  in 1985.  My parents flew in with a team from their church to participate in this celebration/leaders conference.  I loved seeing my parents and to see the legacy of leaders and pastors they discipled and loved for over 10 years.  At one of the sessions they called up Bible College Presidents to have the national leaders pray over them for fresh vision and passion.   It was a privilege to be prayed over and I felt God give me fresh vision for the Living Light Bible College here in Port Moresby.  My mom and dad were able to spend a week with us and it was  so fun to have 3 generations together in PNG.  The boys and Wendy loved spending time with grandma and grandpa.

Joyce Meyer Opening a new Foursquare Church

As you know, part of my involvement as the principle of the college is with the church planting in the rural areas of Central Province which is the province that surrounds the city of Port Moresby.  We have opened 18 new churches in the last couple of years with many more fellowships and invitations in the works.  We recently opened a new Foursquare Church in a key township called Kwikila.  It is a key town because of the proximity it is to many villages and because of the large amount of property that Foursquare was given there.  Our dream is to build a retreat/ conference centre their so that we can have camps, leadership conferences, etc. for all the churches in villages close to Kwikila.  The opening was a great celebration with special guest Joyce Meyer (yes that one!) cutting the ribbon and praying over the new pastors Kila and Agatha (who are great friends of ours).  Please pray for the town of Kwikila and the new pastors Kila and Agatha.  We believe that many good things are going to come of this church.  Joyce Meyer had also donated money for our churches medical clinics and was able to dedicate the new expansions of our 2 medical clinics that serve as an outreach to all of Port Moresby.  In our next newsletter we will be talking about the gigantic Joyce Meyer Crusade with Hillsongs in our city of Port Moresby.

We feel so honored to be apart of the work God is doing here in Papua New Guinea.  Thank you all for your support in helping us serve here.     Blessing,  Paul, Carina, Mason and Ezra

June Update

Greetings from Papua New Guinea!

The last few months have been extremely bust for us as Carina and I have been hosting several missions teams that have come to serve here at Living Light Foursquare Church.  We are continually blessed by these missions teams who sacrifice time, money and comfort to come here and minister selflessly to the people of PNG. This month we’ve  been hosting a team from Foursquare Ignite (top right: Team leader Kalli and one of the church youth dressed in tribal clothes). The team was able to participate with me and other staff pastors at a crusade in the Hohola settlement. It was a powerful time seeing hundreds of starving, homeless people living in the settlements desperate for Jesus.  Ignite was able to see many people receive Jesus and get filled with the Holy Spirit.  The team also ministered at Faith Club and Hope Kids regularly and we able to pray for several children to receive healing from sickness (bottom right: praying for settlement children).
